An acorn

Is this or is this not the potential of an acorn?

The potential of an acorn?

The potential of an acorn?

That is the question on which a whole lot turns. Many people would say “yes” and then have a pint and give no consideration to the consequences of this answer. Some people say “no” because they are capable of thinking ahead and would rather avoid the consequences of this answer. There are some more convoluted and sophisticated responses to the question as well, offered for various reasons and which run along the lines of “Well that all depends on … blah, blah.” But by and large most people think it’s sort of a stupid question and will wonder what is wrong with you for even asking it.
